But technology is just one piece of the puzzle. Without the right framework and strategy in place, simply spending more on technology for greater efficiency may result in only that: spending more.

From our experience, it's critical to look at your business holistically: from physical systems—such as office or warehouse facilities—to manufacturing and logistics, even to other technology investments, including compute, architecture, and applications. Taken together, these are what’s essential to achieving a truly sustainable ecosystem.

Cloud migration has moved to cloud optimization

Across all industries, enterprise and ISV companies have quickly prioritized moving to the cloud and modernizing their technology portfolio. Those who have started this process now need to address questions around their cloud or multi-cloud operations.

The many processes around cloud technologies and their operation include management, governance, support, security, billing, business users, etc. The intrinsic complexities of operating from the cloud have caught up with many enterprises, now making optimization their focus and priority.

Development and operational processes will need to change, potentially alongside other business processes as well. Without a focus on optimization, you risk impacting and impeding the main benefits of cloud: agility, scalability, and speed-to-market.

Hyperscale cloud providers like AWS have become the masters of fast innovation, releasing new features at a rapid cadence. However, their ever-growing catalogue of capabilities can make a quick migration to cloud operations difficult. No matter the migration’s speed, it’s not merely about the destination of moving to the cloud. Optimization ensures companies can successfully thrive once they are there.

ISVs and large enterprise companies with significant software portfolios seek to maximize their development capabilities using innovative technology to improve their business goals.

A typical developer must balance their time between both coding and non-coding-related activities.
