Successful End-to-End Integration for Payment Processing Enterprise

Financial Services

Client background

Our client is a leader in payment processing services. What started as a local electronic payments system grew into a multi-solution corporation. Today, the company processes all types of payments, including alternative payment methods for e-commerce merchants, debit and credit card processing, digital wallets, prepaid cards and vouchers, direct debit payments, and offline payment support. A significant part of their business is B2B: turn-key solutions that integrate payment processing modules into enterprise systems across industries.

Business challenge

When our client partnered with a new enterprise customer, they needed to integrate their existing system with a solution being built on the partner's side. The complication: the partner's module was still under development by a third party. We had to design an integration approach that accounted for this dependency and mitigated the risks it introduced.

Project description

The project required building a solution that connected our client's modules with software from their partner. To get the design right, we ran a series of discovery workshops covering:

  • An audit of the client's system, focused on architecture and security
  • A feasibility study of the integration between the two systems
  • A plan for how the systems should connect, including architecture and functional requirements
  • Identification of limitations, with testing recommendations to address them

The solution was built on a Java-based technology stack.

Value delivered

The solution supported our client's new enterprise partnership. Despite the added risk of integrating with a third-party component that wasn't yet finished, the project was delivered on time and on budget.

Outcomes included:

  • A detailed analysis of the existing architecture
  • Validated feasibility for the integration
  • A fully built solution connecting the client's payment system with the partner's services
  • A proof of concept that reduced risk and cost before full-scope development
  • Hosting for the solution and the integrated processes after go-live
  • Freed-up capacity for the client's in-house team to focus on other initiatives
  • Room for the client's IT department to move beyond maintaining supportive products

This project shows how disciplined discovery can de-risk a complex integration. By validating architecture and feasibility before building, SoftServe helped the client move forward with a partner whose own system was still in motion, without losing time or budget.
