Client background
Our client supplies high-quality health products and supplements. It is a multi-level marketing company that sells to consumers through a network of distributors, using a web portal.
Business challenge
The client’s web portal was not built for mobile devices. Browsing from a phone was awkward, and the experience fell short of current mobile standards. Distributors and customers needed on-the-go access to the client’s resources.
The client partnered with SoftServe to develop iOS and Android apps. Customer satisfaction was the core business objective of the project.
Project description
SoftServe ran a workshop that built Design Thinking into the design and development of the user experience. It aimed to identify:
- The key needs of the app’s end users
- The client’s business goals and objectives
- High-level business and functional requirements

The workshop ran two interdependent threads. One focused on designing the user experience. The other analyzed and documented high-level solution requirements.
The workshop surfaced six pain points:
- No mobile app. Users had to rely on the website from their phones, which cost them time.
- Poor mobile UX. Browsing the website on mobile devices made for a frustrating experience.
- Limited reporting. The current reporting system wasted time and reduced visibility.
- No simple way to share content. News and updates reached fewer people.
- Manual onboarding. There was no quick, paperless way to enroll new consumers or introduce new team members, which slowed the growth of distributors’ teams.
- No personalization. Users spent more time looking for the information they needed.
Value delivered
The workshop gave the client a clear path to launch. SoftServe defined the next steps for delivering the mobile apps on the App Store and Google Play, in line with the client’s business schedule.
Two concrete deliverables came out of the work:
- A defined vision and scope for the solution
- A clickable, interactive prototype of the mobile app
The client’s distributors work on the move, so their tools have to move with them. The workshop turned six everyday frustrations into a defined scope and a prototype the client’s team could see and test. The client now has a clear plan for apps that save users time and make growing a distributor team easier.
