SoftServe and Okean Elzy Raise Funds for 50 Signal Protection Systems
KYIV, Ukraine (MAY 30, 2025) — SoftServe’s Open Eyes charity fund has joined forces with the legendary Ukrainian band Okean Elzy to raise $360,831 to purchase 50 signal protection systems. These systems will be installed in ambulances that are already saving lives on the frontlines — shielding both vehicles and their crews from digital threats.
Ambulances remain exposed: the digital signals they transmit can be intercepted and used by the enemy to identify their routes and turn them into targets. Signal protection systems — tools that reduce the digital vulnerability of ambulances — jam hostile tracking attempts by disrupting key frequencies. According to defenders, these systems can reduce the likelihood of a strike by up to 90%.
The initiative Life Waves. Powered by Okean Elzy aims to reinforce the work of frontline medics by raising funds for 50 signal protection systems. Each system will include a tailored set of modules adapted to the needs of individual brigades. These will be installed in ambulances previously provided by the fund — 328 vehicles since the full-scale invasion began, including 30 purchased in partnership with Okean Elzy.
On May 31, the band will perform in Poland and the next day in Montenegro, followed by a solo concert by Sviatoslav Vakarchuk in Germany. In June, Okean Elzy will return to Ukraine with a concert series titled That Day in Lviv. Each performance is more than a cultural event — it’s a chance to help medics save more lives. Attendees can contribute through auctions of symbolic artefacts from the band and defenders, or by exchanging donations for charity merchandise at the Lviv concerts. Contributions can also be made through the fund's official website.
Supporting medics on the frontlines remains one of the key missions of the Open Eyes charity fund. The team works closely with medical units to provide not only vehicles, but also essential life-saving equipment: defibrillators, stretchers, oxygen tanks, ventilators, life-support systems, and other specialised gear.
About the Fund
Open Eyes is a charity fund established by SoftServe in 2014, operating across Ukraine, Europe, and the United States. The fund focuses on three key areas: supporting medical institutions, advancing education for youth and children, and providing assistance to Ukrainian defenders and veterans.
Following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Open Eyes shifted its efforts toward delivering critical aid to the country. Since then, the fund has delivered over 1,000 tonnes of humanitarian aid, reaching more than 100,000 people. Ukrainian defenders have received over 17,000 units of summer and winter uniforms and 816 pairs of footwear. The fund has supported 191 medical teams with essential supplies and delivered 1,460 units of medical equipment, along with 328 ambulances sent to frontline areas.
