SoftServe wins Global Good Awards for Internal Volunteering Initiative

LVIV, Ukraine (Nov. 23, 2023) – SoftServe, a premier IT consulting and digital services provider, announced its global recognition for developing a volunteer movement within the company. The company received a gold award from the Global Good Awards in the Technology for Good category.

SoftServe was awarded for its work through Open Tech, an internal crowdsourcing program that brings together company employees for technology volunteering. Over the three years of its operation, the program has become a fundamental driver of social change, as it has supported many NGOs, government, and independent initiatives by developing digital products for them – websites and mobile applications, CRM systems, etc.

"Good and important initiatives should be closer to the modern users, actively present in the online world so that they can be easily found,” said Taras Verveha, co-founder and member of the SoftServe Board of Directors, the Open Eyes Charity Fund representative. “It is more important now than ever before. We help create technological solutions for public organizations and governmental, social, cultural, and charitable institutions. I am happy that we have the opportunity to help with the expertise of SoftServe. And I am especially pleased that our program is recognized globally."

The Open Tech program implemented 37 pro bono projects involving 820 SoftServe employees. Among the key projects created in Ukraine:

• "Grains of Truth," a web project for the Holodomor Museum
• "Znayimo," a platform about healthy school meals in cooperation with UNICEF
• A webpage for the Ukrainian charitable fund "Come Back Alive"
• Updated Damaged.in.ua, a platform for assessing material losses in Ukraine due to the war
• Aurora platform for psychological assistance to victims of war-related violence with UNFPA

"Open Tech is a unique project – we don't just help technologically occasionally, in fact, we’ve managed to launch large-scale work within the company,” said Mariya Kucherenko, CR & CSR Director, SoftServe. “It includes establishing processes for finding volunteers, forming teams, improving team management, developing methods for motivation of volunteers, etc. The work of Open Tech volunteers has become systematic, the number of completed projects is constantly growing, and the projects have even expanded to other countries.”

Open Tech volunteers are currently developing 31 projects in Ukraine, Poland, Bulgaria, and Colombia.
