Warehouse (Re)design and Optimization

Before changing your warehouse layout, you can test it. SoftServe's WarehouseSim creates a virtual replica of your facility, letting you model operational changes, robot movement, and staff workflows. Run simulations on demand, at any scale, without the cost or disruption of physical trials.

The Technology

We provide a unified digital platform to onboard and integrate all aspects of the warehouse into a comprehensive warehouse digital twin.

  • NVIDIA Omniverse

WarehouseSim is built on NVIDIA Omniverse and Open USD, integrating 3D assets, physics simulation, and discrete event modeling into a single environment. The result: a photorealistic, interactive view of your warehouse — accurate enough to analyze operations and test decisions with confidence.

  • NVIDIA Isaac Sim

High-fidelity physics simulation combined with emulated process control logic lets you run what-if scenarios, anticipate operational risks, and fine-tune performance before changes reach the floor.

  • Discrete Event Simulation

Macro-level simulation of material flow and logistics processes provides an end-to-end view of warehouse operations. It helps identify bottlenecks, throughput constraints, and efficiency opportunities before changes are implemented.

  • Generative AI

WarehouseSim integrates NVIDIA NeMo and NVIDIA Riva to enable natural language interaction with your warehouse model. Speak or type a command, and the simulation responds, adjusting layouts, creating 3D objects, and modifying the environment in real time within NVIDIA Omniverse.

How It Works

Create

Design your warehouse layout from the ground up or reimport an existing one. Test changes dynamically, adjusting configurations, equipment placement, and workflows until the setup fits your operational needs.

Automate

Build a comprehensive environment for testing mission control logic, mobile robots, and forklifts. Run scenarios, validate process control logic, and conduct post-mortem analysis to understand what worked and what didn't.

Optimize

Identify bottlenecks, improve resource utilization, and increase throughput, using simulation data to make confident decisions before anything changes in the real world.

Use Cases

Accurate Layout Creation:

  • Digital representation for precise layout creation, considering factors like equipment placement, aisle width, and storage capacity.
  • Eliminates potential design flaws and ensures optimized warehouse layout.

Maximized Floor Space and Improved Inventory Categorization:

  • Simulate various storage configurations to identify the most efficient placement of goods and equipment.
  • Experiment with shelving heights, rack designs, and storage systems to maximize storage capacity and ensure easy accessibility.
  • Analyze the impact on workflow, picking paths, and order fulfillment to determine efficient material flow patterns.

Robotization & Automation Simulations:

  • Navigation optimization, minimizing collisions, and travel time.
  • Simulate AGVs and AMRs’ movement and operations to understand how they operate in real life, including post-mortem analysis and troubleshooting.
  • Automatic order fulfillment.

Optimization and operations planning:

  • Ensure productivity and throughput, and reduce costs by leveraging what-if modeling and optimization.
  • Layout and materials flow optimization, sensitivity analysis to evaluate the impact of planned changes.
  • Optimizing collaborative efficiency between Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) and personnel.
  • Advanced visualizations (e.g., AMR movement heat map, inventory turnover, etc.)

Enhanced Safety and Ergonomics:

  • Simulate potential hazards, such as collision risks and obstruction of emergency exits, to identify safety concerns early in the design phase.
  • Assess ergonomic considerations, such as workstation placement, lifting aids, and equipment, to identify and resolve potential issues.

Streamlined Collaboration and Communication:

  • Common visual language through 3D visualization bridges the gap between technical experts and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Facilitates collaborative decision-making by providing a virtual representation of the warehouse.
  • Visualization promotes a shared understanding among designers, logistics professionals, and decision-makers.
